1. This message will expire on 1 March 2018.

2. The purpose of this message is to announce changes to the military occupational
specialties (MOS) and areas of concentration (AOC) eligible to receive the Basic,
Senior, and Master Aviation Badges. These changes are effective immediately and
will be updated in paragraphs 8-28 through 8-30 in the next revision of AR 600-8-22.

3. AR 600-8-22, paragraph 8-28 contains criteria for award of the Basic Aviation
Badge.  The following career management fields (CMFs)/MOSs/AOCs pertaining
to the Basic Aviation Badge are revised or added as follows:

a. Aviation MOS 68 series (from 31 December 1985 through 30 September 2003).

b. MOS 35L, 35Q and 35W for Soldiers who graduated from a 67 CMF prior to  30
September 1996.

c. MOS 150A, 150U, and 151A. Warrant Officers in these MOSs will be awarded the
Basic Aviation Badge upon successful completion of their MOS qualification course.  
Warrant officers possessing the MOS 350U or 350K will be awarded the Basic
Aviation Badge retroactively to their date of graduation from the qualification course.

d. MOS 52D with additional skill identifier (ASI) U2 (from 1 April 1991 through
30 September 2009).

e. MOS 33W with ASI U2 (from 1 April 1991 through 30 September 2010).

f. MOS 68W Health Care Specialist with ASI F2 (from 1 October 2012 to present),
68W with ASI F3, or 68W with ASI W1, provided the criteria in AR 600-8-22,
paragraph 8-28b, c, or d is met.   

g. AOC 73B with skill identifier (SI) N7 or AOC 66H with completion of the Joint
Enroute Care Course (JECC) within the Army Medical Department (AMEDD)
provided the criteria in AR 600-8-22, paragraph 8-28b, c, or d is met.

4. AR 600-8-22, paragraph 8-29 contains criteria for award of the Senior Aviation
Badge. The following CMF/MOS/AOC pertaining to the Senior Aviation Badge are
revised or added as follows:

a. Aviation MOS 68 series (from 31 December 1985 through 30 September 2003).

b. MOS 35L, 35Q and 35W for Soldiers who graduated from a 67 CMF prior to  30
September 1996.

c. MOS 150A, 150U, and 151A. Time spent as a 350K or 350U also counts toward
eligibility for the Senior Aviation Badge.

d. MOS 52D with ASI U2 (from 1 April 1991 through 30 September 2009).

e. MOS 33W with ASI U2 (from 1 April 1991 through 30 September 2010).

f. MOS 68W Health Care Specialist, ASI F2 (from 1 October 2012 to present), 68W
with ASI F3, or 68W with ASI W1.

g. AOC 73B with SI N7 or AOC 66H with completion of the JECC within the AMEDD.
