Army Weight Control Counseling Statement Example

Overweight counseling statement is given to a Soldier after he/she fails to meet the height, weight and body fat standards IAW
AR 600-9. Determination of being overweight can be made during the Army Physical Fitness Test APFT or at the Commander's
request if the Soldier looks overweight and can be tested at any time. Soldiers must be aware of the consequences of failing to
meet the height and weight standards, such as losing the privilege to use tuition assistance, attend WLC, receive awards and all
favorable actions due to being flagged, this information should be documented on DA Form 4856 Developmental Counseling
Form along with DA 5500 Body Fat Worksheet immediately after failing the body fat standards.
